I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE EBATES.COM

I just received a check (that cleared) for $101.92 from ebates.com.

What did I do to get it? I bought Christmas presents online. Seriously - that’s all I did.

When we first had Charlie, we had a large stash of all sorts of diapers from my baby shower. Huggies, Pampers, Luvs, and some generic no-name diapers of all sorts of little sizes.

I was happy to have them… at first.

But, you’ll be amazed by how quickly you start noticing differences - especially between Pampers Swaddlers and every other brand.

To put it bluntly - Swaddlers are soft. They feel like something you wouldn’t mind wearing. But, every other brand (and we tried quite a few) seems like they were made with starched sandpaper in comparison to Swaddlers.

So (try not to let my family members know… they might get upset) we wound up giving away a lot of non-Swaddlers diapers to other parents, pantries, etc.

After using Swaddlers, we just couldn’t justify diapering our little Charlie with diapers that seemed so rough when Swaddelers were about the same cost - especially when you get coupons.

Bottom Line: Try everything, but if you wind up feeling like my husband and I did, take your Huggies, Luvs and other brands to your caregiver. Let them use them for your little one. After all, they won’t hurt your baby. But, as a new parent, you’ll feel better being able to put the softest diapers you can on your new little one.

PS - Stock up on diapers when they’re on sale and you have coupons. If you can pay $0.16 - $0.19 per diaper, you’re doing good!

How does a dinosaur say Goodnight when Papa comes in to turn off the light? … Or when Mama comes in to turn off the light. Do dinosaurs behave badly or are they simply angels when it comes to a bed time routine?

That’s the premise of How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight, by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague.

This quintessential goodnight book is our favorite “last book”. I’m not quite sure why, but getting Charlie to fall asleep is always easier when this is the last book we read.

It’s fun. It’s short (important for when the little ones are tired… and cranky). It’s got great illustrations. And, it has a great message… Bed time is OK!

Give it a try. I think you’ll enjoy it too.

What does a Boppy Pillow have in common with Baking Soda, Dryer Sheets, and Duct Tape? There’s like a thousand uses for each one, of course.

Everyone knows about the many uses of Baking Soda, Duct Tape (TY Macgyver), and Dryer Sheets… But it takes a Mom to know the many, many uses of a Boppy Pillow.

Here are just a few off the top of my head….

1. Pillow for Mom when you crash on the baby’s nursery floor
2. Tummy time support for baby
3. A Bumbo Sitter without the Bumbo Sitter (FYI - For those of you who don’t know… a Bumbo Sitter seat is a funny little seat that helps babies — who can’t yet sit up on their own — sit up on their own.)
4. A weapon to throw at significant other who refuses to take his/her turn doing a poopy diaper change
5. Post-labor sit-on pillow (perfect support everywhere you want it and none where you don’t)
6. Support to prop up the night time book while your hands are occupied feeding and holding baby
7. Great neck pillow to sleep in the car (sleeping anywhere you can while baby is little is key)
8. Of course, the obvious… breastfeeding support… to help you hold your little one next to you
9. While you’re still pregnant - and extra pillow for that big belly of yours… perfectly shaped to support while you sleep.
10. Put a towel over it and hoist up the poopy baby bottom… it’ll give you the extra few seconds you need to wipe because it’s just a bit harder for your baby to wiggle out of.

Those are the uses I have at the top of my head. My guess is that you guys have a lot more uses…
